Worley M. Brown, 88, of Independence, formerly of Williamsburg, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. He was a retired construction foreman with W. L. Harper Company in Hebron and owned Brown's Marine in Williamsburg, Ohio.
Worley was born on December 22, 1925 in Harrodsburg, Kentucky to the late Lindsey and Mabel Harris Brown. He was a decorated World War II Navy Veteran, earning a Presidential Unit Citation and a Purple Heart while at Iwo Jima. He served on the naval destroyer USS Bryant in the Saipan-Tinian, Palau, Surigao Strait, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa missions. Worley was a 50 year member of Linwood F&AM Masonic Lodge #567 of Norwood, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife Alice Goodridge Brown; sons, Paul (Linda) Leek of Walton, KY and Michael (Bobbie) Leek of Independence, KY; daughter, Patricia (Tim) Glauer of Ashland, OH; sisters, Mildred Spry and Juanita Meyer, both of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
Visitation is Monday, February 10, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment, with military honors, at Hebron Lutheran Cemetery, Hebron.
