William Henry Poynter, of Walton, died peacefully at his home at the age of 96.
William received an associate’s degree from the Ohio Mechanics Institute of Oklahoma. He retired from the FAA where he was a Radar Technician. He proudly served his country in the Army 11th Airborne Division where he was stationed in Japan.
He was very interested in history, music, and loved playing his harmonica. He will be very missed by his family, and we will miss being entertained by his music.
The family would like to thank St. Elizabeth Hospice for their wonderful care.
He was preceded in death by wife, Imogene Poynter (Alsip); father, William (Bap) Poynter; mother, Anna Pearl (Nan) Poynter; son, Donald William Poynter; and sisters, Jewel Spencer, and Lucille Foster.
He is survived by wife, Judy Poynter; sons, James Poynter (Susan), Ron Poynter (Debbie), William Poynter Jr. (Vicki), and Richard Poynter; step-son, James Kevin Holliday; daughters, Carol Davis (David), Teresa Almomen (Abdullah), and Angela Graham (Ron); fourteen grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Hebron Lutheran Cemetery, Hebron.
