William Johnson

July 29, 1924 — August 22, 2012


William "Si" Kearney Johnson, 88, of Fort Wright, formerly of Villa Hills and Ludlow, died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Hospice of St. Elizabeth, Edgewood surrounded by his family.

Si was a very devoted man who spent his life serving his community. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and then became an active member of the Ludlow Vets where he previously served as President. Si spent a number of years as a member of the Ludlow & Vicinity Business Association and was elected to serve two terms on the Ludlow City Council. His career was spent in the insurance business as an agent for Metropolitan Life and State Farm Insurance Companies, operating his agency, the William "Si" Johnson Agency, from his home in Ludlow. He was a member of First Church of Christ, Burlington.

Si was preceded in death by his parents, Kearney and Eolen Matherly Johnson.

Si is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Peggy Early Johnson of Fort Wright. He was an extremely loving and devoted father of daughters, Joni (Bradley) Burtner of Villa Hills, Lisa (Jim) Lokesak of Union and Gina (Kevin) Gray of Cold Spring and a son, Keith (Pam) Johnson of Villa Hills. He was the proud Paw Paw of 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Visitation is Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow. Funeral service is Monday, August 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment, with military honors, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Erlanger.
