Verna Lee (Hergott) Pitzer Berling, 88, of Florence, formerly of Covington passed away Monday, November 1, 2021. Born August 30, 1933, to Genevieve (Burch) and Elmer Hergott, Verna was a longtime member of St. Augustine Church, Covington, and had attended St. John Catholic Church for many years. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years, retiring from Blue Star Inc. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, crafting, sewing, reading, and entertaining as well as trap and skeet shooting.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepson and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Karen Berling.
Survivors include her husband, Gordon W. Berling; her daughters, Deborah (Brad) Gardner, Victoria (Steve) Cuntz, Lori (Mike) Patton and son, Jeffrey Pitzer; her step-children Suzanne Schultz, Sharon (Joe) Strubel, and Gary (Sandra) Berling; her brother, Edward (Patricia) Hergott; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021, at St. John Catholic Church, 627 W. Pike Street, Covington, Kentucky. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger is serving the family.
