Tom Hein, 62, of Florence, formerly of Ludlow, died Thursday, September 4, at his home. He was a retired Large Business Services Team Leader for Cincinnati Bell Telephone where he had been employed for 42 years and was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneer Club.
Mr. Hein was a member of Sts. Boniface and James Church of Ludlow. He was a 34 year member of the Ludlow Volunteer Fire Department, holding the offices of Past President, Lieutenant, Squad Captain and EMT Badge #54. He was a former Ludlow Police Department Auxillary Officer and was instrumental in bringing "911" emergency service to Northern Kentucky.
Mr. Hein was also a member of Boone County DES (Disaster Emergency Services) and a member of the Queen City F & AM Lodge #559 of Cincinnati. He enjoyed fishing, poker and golf.
Surviving is his wife, Bertha Truitt Hein; daughter, Jeananne Hein of Erlanger; sons, Danny (Paula) Hein of Edgewood and Frank (Connie) Hein of Burlington; grandchildren, Zachary Hein, Amanda Hein and Jack Hein; sister, Angela Erne of Elsmere; brother, Gerald Hein of Cincinnati; aunts, Patricia Dowling of Park Hills and Mary Jean Butler of Independence; and sisters-in-law, Kathy Hein of Florence and Sharon Hein of Cincinnati (Delhi).
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ray Hein and Jack Hein; and parents, Raymond and Anne Donnelly Hein.
