Roy E. Thornberry, Sr., 68, of Covington, formerly of Ludlow, died Tuesday, July 7 at Hospice of St. Elizabeth, Edgewood. He was a retired Engineer with Norfolk and Southern Railroad.
Roy was a United States Navy Veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Covington and was a Kentucky Colonel. Roy's hobbies included golfing and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Vada L. Jones Thornberry; mother, Annie Meyers Thornberry of Covington; sons, George Thornberry of Florence, Roy (Barb) Thornberry, Jr. of Florence, Sam (Heather) Thornberry of Ft. Drum, New York, Chris Thornberry of Cleveland,Ohio, Ron (Yasmina) Wofford of Ludlow, and Randy (Vikki) Wofford of Ludlow; daughters, Aletha Ann Baron of St. Petersburg, Florida and Rita (Bobby) Dickmann of Ludlow; 30 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Thornberry; and father, George Thornberry.
