Richard A. Brake, Jr.

Richard A. Brake, Jr., known affectionately as Rick to his family and friends, was born on October 23, 1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio. His adventurous spirit and kind heart took him on a journey through life that came to a close on January 25, 2025, at UC Medical Center. At 66 years old, Rick left behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Rick was an Outbound Freight Handler with Amazon Air, embodying the hard work and dedication that he was known for. His commitment extended beyond his profession; in his younger days, he was an avid marathon runner, a true health "nut" who relished the challenge of pushing his limits. His passion for fitness was only rivaled by his deep love for exploration and adventure, often found traveling the world hand in hand with his beloved wife, Nancy (Bullock) Brake. Together, they shared many unforgettable experiences, from relaxing days on golf courses to snorkeling adventures, always seeking out the beauty of life’s excursions.

Rick had a gift for giving— a trait that resonated until the very end. He chose to become an organ donor, and through his extraordinary generosity, ten individuals received a precious gift of life. This selfless act stands as a testament to the character of a man who lived by the principles of kindness and compassion.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, who was not just a spouse but a partner in every sense, sharing dreams and adventures alike. He is also survived by his two brothers, Tim (Kim) Brake and Steve Brake, as well as his sister-in-law, Susan Bullock Clore, and brother-in-law, William (Nancy) Bullock. The family’s bonds extend to his nephew, Chase Clore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard A. and Arlene (Buchert) Brake, Sr.

A graveside service will be held to honor Rick's memory on January 30, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Hebron Lutheran Cemetery in Hebron, Kentucky.
