He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star for his bravery and heroism.
Upon his discharge, Nicholas began his private sector life as a Machinist with Anderson Manufacturing of Hebron while attending college. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ludlow and in his spare time he enjoyed gunsmithing, spelunking and running.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James E. Merriman.
Survivors include his parents, Michael and Cheri Stewart Merriman of Burlington; son, Conner Gabriel Merriman of Florence; sister, Laura (Rick) Zuckerman of Union; brother, Dennis M. Merriman of Florence; maternal grandparents, Patricia and John “Jack” Stewart of Walton; paternal grandmother, Betty Jean Merriman of Florence; uncles and aunts, Dennis J. Merriman of Lakeside Park, Carol & Michael Harp of Latonia and Jean & Steve Schultz of Park Hills; and a host of cousins.
Graveside Services with Military Honors are Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron is serving the family.
