M.L. Murphy

Maurice L. “M.L.” Murphy, 81, of Park Hills, died Monday evening, November 29, 2010 at Hospice of St. Elizabeth, Edgewood.

He was a retired Mutuel Clerk at Turfway Park. He also worked at River Downs, Keeneland and the former Latonia Race Course.

M.L. was a member of St. Agnes Church of Fort Wright and he was a race horse owner. He was also a United States Army veteran.

Survivors include sisters, Ann (Tom) Ernst of Fort Wright, and Judy (Jerry)Bergfeld of Florence; sisters in law, Karen Murphy of Park Hills and Patricia Murphy of Elsmere; many nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mora Rose Hoober; brothers, Mike Murphy and John J. “Jack” Murphy; and parents, John "Pops" and Olivia Wermeling Murphy.
