Michael Murphy

Michael “Murph” Murphy, 64 of Villa Hills passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013, at Hospice of St. Elizabeth, Edgewood surrounded by family and friends. Mike retired from a career in shipping that included Area Sales Manager, Hanjin International Shipping, Director of Cargo Sales, Comair and Director for Ground and Hub Operations, DHL Airways.

He was a U.S. Army veteran who was awarded Meritorious Achievement with both the Bronze Star and Air Medals for serving in Vietnam. As a member of the Fenians of NKY, Mike took an active role in advocating for the establishment of an Irish Dolman to commemorate and honor the Irish immigrants in the region. A member of H.O.G., he traveled with other veterans on multiple road trips and most recently completed the Lewis and Clark trail.

His father and mother, Edward William and Delores Masterson Murphy preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Reeves Murphy of Villa Hills; a daughter, Allison Murphy Dabler (Stacey) of Kennewick, WA; three grandchildren, Natasha, Kyleigh and Thomas; a sister, Cynthia Murphy Reinholm of Independence and a host of nieces , nephews and many friends.

Visitation is Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 11:00 am to 12:00 Noon at Mother of God Church, 119 W. 6th Street, Covington, KY, 41011 followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon. Reverend Raymond Hartman to celebrate Mass. Interment, with military honors, at Hebron Lutheran Cemetery, Hebron. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow is serving the family.
