Melvin R. Houp, 79, of Fort Wright died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. He was a retired hairstylist and owner of Mr. Mel’s Salon, Downtown.
He was an artist who enjoyed different mediums of stained glass, painting and ceramics and he enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lafon Houp; brother, Charles L. Houp; and nephew, Brian Houp.
Survivors include his mother, Edna Lorraine Chambers Houp of Fort Wright; brother, William “Ralph” (Nancy) Houp of Fort Wright; sister, Carol (the late Robert N.) Miller of Mansfield, Ohio; nieces, Darleen Wynn, Kimberly Houp and Stephanie Beach; nephews, Jim Houp, Darren Houp and Bob Miller; and several great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation is Friday, February 20, 2015 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, Erlanger. Funeral services to immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Shawn Crisman officiating. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow is serving the family.
