Mark F. Dreyer, 77, of Park Hills passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015. He was the retired sampling coordinator for the COGNIS Corporation, Cincinnati. While employed at COGNIS, he served on the Emergency Preparedness Committee, the Fire Response Team, the Emergency Medical Team and he was qualified for HAZ/MAT Handling.
Mr. Dreyer served during Korea in the U.S. Army. He had a distinguished 40 year career of service with the Park Hills Fire Department, serving on the Rescue Squad. He was the Assistant Chief Emeritus of the Park Hills Fire Department, and the former instructor for the American Red Cross and the American Heart Associations. He was also an instructor for the Commonwealth of Kentucky Fire /EMS Training program, former President of the Park Hills Civic Association, former President of the Kenton & Boone Counties Fire School, former President of the Kenton County Squad Association and member of the Cincinnati Railroad Club. He was awarded the Commonwealth of Kentucky E.M.T. of the Year award in 1995.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Mary Alloway Dreyer in 2005; and his parents, Frank and Verena Dickman Dreyer.
Survivors include daughters, Connie (John) Zembrodt of Petersburg, Marcy (Jeffrey) Gleick of Centerville, Ohio and Susan (Matt) Umbarger of Park Hills; sons, Robert (Anne) Dreyer and Stephen (Jodi) Dreyer, both of Edgewood; brother, Roger Dreyer of Leavenworth, Kansas; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Visitation is Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Mass of Christian Burial is Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. Interment at St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
