Lawrence L. Rodamer, beloved husband of the late Hannah Weber Rodamer, died Sunday, April 5 at Bridgepoint Healthcare Center in Florence at the age of 96. Born to the late Andrew and Flora Peeno Rodamer in Constance, he leaves a sister, Hilda Feick of Cincinnati; a sister in law, Mabel Rodamer of Burlington; a special nephew, Sam (Becky) Rodamer; and other nieces and nephews. His brothers, Milton and Kenneth, preceded him in death.
Mr. Rodamer graduated Valedictorian, and was the sole survivor, of the 1930 class of Hebron High School. He married Hannah Weber in 1938. He graduated from Eastern State Teachers College in 1942 with a Bachelor of Science Degree after four years of all A's. In 1952, he obtained his Masters of Education Degree from the University of Cincinnati. He continued his education to gain his degree in school administration.
He started teaching for the Boone County Schools at the age of 19 in a school in North Bend Bottoms. When that school closed, Mr. Rodamer taught at the old Hebron High School where he later became principal. He retired from education in 1978 as principal of Goodridge Elementary in Hebron. He and his wife, being aware of needy children in the area, started the Hebron School Welfare Fund which furnished clothing, shoes, and other necessities to needy families. When he retired after 46 years of teaching, they moved to Orlando, Florida to be close to his brother Kenneth. While there, Lawrence and Hannah did some substitute teaching and delivered Meals on Wheels. He returned to Boone County after Hannah's demise in 1997.
Lawrence joined the Constance Church of the Brethren in 1925 and was ordained a minister of the Church of the Brethren in 1944. He was also a member of the Boone County Retired Teachers Association and Hebron Lion's Club.
At his request, his body has been donated to the University of Cincinnati Medical College.
