Joseph George Spare, 89, of Cincinnati and formerly of Ft. Mitchell, KY and Burlington, KY died Sunday morning April 24, 2011 at the Courtyard at Seasons Nursing Home, Cincinnati, OH. He was the retired President for Pilot Construction Company, a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Ft. Mitchell and a United States Air Force veteran and former fighter pilot of World War II holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Valentina Sperti Spare; sister, Antoinette Spare and a brother, Albert "Pete" Spare.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Bee Hilterbrand Spare; a daugher, Catherine Rogers and her husband Mike of Florence; sons, Dr. J. Timothy Spare and his wife Carol of Waldo, OH, and Richard Spare of Mt. Adams; a sister, Mararita Bell of Park Hills and 5 grandchildren, Shannon Russell, Shelby Werner, Scott Spare, Michael and Brian Rogers; and 3 great grandchildren, Natalie Russell, Owen Russell and Jonah Werner.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial 7:00 PM Monday, May 2, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Ft. Mitchell. Visitation begins at 5:00 PM Monday at the church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.
