John "Jack" S. Wood, 72, of Erlanger, died Saturday, January 24 at St. Elizabeth South Hospital in Edgewood. He was the owner of Recognition World, a company that specialized in advertising specialties and promotional products.
Mr. Wood was a graduate of Newport Catholic High School and was inducted into their Sports Hall of Fame for baseball. He was a member of the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame and the Kenton County Sports Hall of Fame (for which he had recorded 4 hole in ones.)
He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Crescent Springs and participated in their sports groups.
Mr. Wood's many charitable activies included participation in the Reggae Run, serving as President of the Covington Catholic Athletic Boosters, serving as President of the Villa Hills Civic Club, and participating in the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He was also inducted as a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Kearns Wood; son, Kevin (Amy) Wood of Edgewood; daughters, Marcia (Rakesh) Ram of Bridgetown, Ohio, Cindy (Mike) Dehlinger of Anderson Township, Ohio, Jennifer (Kevin) Linn of Covedale, Ohio, and Allison (Ryan) Rathje of Chicago, Illinois; and grandchildren, Mitchell, Carlin, Priya, Cole, Evan, Quinn, Clay, David, Ethan, Avery, Aiden, Johnna, Andy, and Kyler.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Messmer; and parents, Stuart and Edna Donaldson Wood.
