John L. Harvey, 67 of Hebron, KY entered into rest August 16, 2014 with his family at his side.
John was born July 14, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY. During his senior year in high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country for four years. After his enlistment, he moved to Waterbury, CT where he met and married the love of his life, JoAnn. He began his career in Law Enforcement working for the Waterbury Police Department. After 10 years, John and his family moved to Florida. For over 20 years, he worked as a Federal Marshal guarding the Space Shuttle at the Kennedy Space Center. John was a lifetime member of the American Legion and had active roles in the 40/8. John loved history and he loved his country. He always said his greatest pride in life was his two daughters.
John is survived by his wife of 44 years, JoAnn; two daughters Kathy Gutzwiller (Duane) and Kristen Wright, both of Hebron. He leaves behind five grandchildren Tyler Dyer (Ashleigh), Abigail Dyer, Drew Gutzwiller, Alex Wright, and Payton Gutzwiller.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Mary Harvey and his brother Jim and sister Jean whom he loved dearly.
The family asks in lieu of flowers memorials be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, a charity John supported adamantly.
