John B. Crawford, 87, of Florence, died Thursday, June 16, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Florence. He was a retired research chemist, having worked for Asario Corp. for 40 years.
He was born June 14, 1924 in Graniteville, Missouri to Benjamin and Jennie Walker Crawford.
Mr. Crawford was a United States World War II Army veteran, having served as a surgical technician in the 78th Armored Division in England, Germany, and France.
A graduate of the University of Missouri, he was a 50 year member of the American Chemical Society. He was also a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Lakeside Park.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Gloria Villa Crawford (having just celebrated 56 years of marriage on June 2, 2011); daughters, Nancy (Bill) Ulbrich of Piqua, Ohio and Janet (Doug) Payne of Crestwood, Kentucky; brother, Stanley Crawford of Grove City, Oklahoma; and granddaughters, Allison Ulbrich, Stephanie Ulbrich, Kristen Payne, Lauren Payne, and LeeAnn Payne.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Darrel Crawford; and sister, Connie Porter.
