Joan Estelle Cetrulo Andrews, 81, of Cincinnati, formerly of Tampa, Florida and Covington, passed away Saturday, July 17 at her residence, St. Paul's Archbishop Leibold Home for the Aged.
Born to Camillo and Estelle (McGrath) Cetrulo, she was raised in Covington and graduated from St. Benedict Grade School and LaSalette High School.
Joan's God-given gifts included dramatic arts, free-hand graphic arts and excellent cooking. It was only in her last years that her greatest gift was disclosed--the gift of encouraging others--which was demonstrated by the dozens of residents and caregivers who paraded into her room, every 15 minutes of the last five days of her earthly life, whispering loving messages to her.
As a youngster, she became quite skilled in ballet, tap and acrobatic dancing. A fellow student later trained Covington resident, Lee Roy Reams, who went on to national stardom in Broadway musicals, including "42nd Street."
Joan's survivors include her son, Robert Barry Andrews of Cincinnati; brother, Robert C. Cetrulo of Ludlow; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials may be made to either the Little Sisters of the Poor, 476 Riddle Road, Cincinnati, OH 45220 or Northern Kentucky Right to Life, P.O. Box 1202, Covington, KY 41011.
