Joan W. Berberich Abeln, 80, of Covington died Sunday evening, January 18, 2015, surrounded by her family at Rosedale Green, Latonia. The beauty of her life is that she never met a stranger and she never forgot a name. She was a member of St. Benedict Church, Covington.
She was preceded in death by parents, Theodore and Anna Fledderman Wissman; first husband, Donald M. Berberich; second husband, Melvin J. Abeln; and sisters, Sr. Wilma Ann, SND, Jean Brauer and Rita Schuler.
Survivors include daughters, Susan (Geoffrey Bialas) Berberich of Louisville, Theresa (Urban) Schroder of Fort Mitchell, Alice (Jim) Schmitz of Taylor Mill and Jennifer (Rick) Caudill of Glencoe; son, Michael (Judy) Berberich of Hebron; sister, Sr. Margie, Sisters of St. Francis of Oldenburg; 12 grandchildren, Andy, Kelly and Ben Schroder, Brian and Brandy Schmitz, Jody and Alex Caudill and Timothy, Matthew, Sarah, Irina and Elena Berberich; and two great grandchildren.
Visitation is Friday, January 23, 2015 at St. Benedict Church, Covington from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington is serving the family.
