James Johnson

September 12, 1935 — August 28, 2013


James Norman Johnson, 77, of Burlington, passed away peacefully with his family at his side after complications of a stroke at St. Elizabeth, Edgewood on Wednesday, August 28, 2013. He was employed by the CG& E Company (now Duke) for 35 ½ years and retired in 1992. He was the owner of J’s Picture Framing from 1985 to May of this year.

Jim was a graduate of Connersville High and the University of Cincinnati. He served in the United States Army and was a faithful member of Hebron Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Hebron Masonic Lodge #757 and Primetimers of Hebron Lutheran Church. Jim’s favorite pastimes were extensive travel, reading, puzzles, word search, woodcarving, photography, U.K. fan and attending grandson’s baseball games.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, LaVerne Jergens Johnson; was the proud father of Eric (Terri) Johnson and two grandsons, Tyler and Corey, who were the lights of his life, all of Taylor Mill; his only cousin, Marty (Mary) Miller of Bloomington, Indiana; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elma and Larry Benne; nephews, Troy Benne and Todd (Karen) Benne; great nieces, Chelsey Benneand Leah Benne; and was supported by all of LaVerne’s cousins and a host of close and precious friends including special friends, Val and Ken Davies of North Wales, Great Britain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Josephine Johnson of Connersville, Indiana.

Visitation is Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at Hebron Lutheran Church, 3140 Limaburg Rd, Hebron, KY 41048 with funeral services immediately following at the church. A luncheon will be served afterward. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron, is serving the family.
