Guy Carlisle, 87, a lifelong resident of Walton, KY died May 10, 2014 of natural causes.
He was born in Walton on December 19, 1926. The son of Charles and Myrtle Carlisle, he was married to Betty Carlisle for 59 years before her passing in 2009. Their daughter, Connie died in 1974.
A veteran of WWII, Guy served in Italy as a staff sergeant during his tour of duty.
In his youth, Guy performed in many drama and dance programs. He graduated from Walton-Verona High School in 1945. After the war, he worked as a linotypist in Chicago but returned to Walton and took over his father’s business. Guy became the owner of Carlisle Oil Company which he successfully operated for many years until he sold the business and retired. Guy was an active member in the community with leadership positions with the Walton volunteer fire department as deputy chief, Mayor of Walton, served on city council, was a member of the Board of Trustees of Walton Cemetery and a longtime member of the Walton Methodist Church.
Guy loved the Kentucky Wildcats, Cumberland Lake, taking the family on long vacation trips around the country, boating and his grandchildren (Blake and Kelsey) and great grandchild, Easton. Guy was generous with his support of people in need, had many friends in Northern Kentucky and was very well known in the community.
He is survived by his daughter, Christy Doggett of Lexington, a grandson, Blake Richardson of Louisville and a granddaughter, Kelsey Besselman of Walton and a great grandson, Easton Besselman.
