Gerald Ware Garvey, 84, of Burlington, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at his home. He was a retired Systems Analyst with Federated Department Stores.
Born July 9, 1928 in Pleasureville, Kentucky to the late Howard and Gladys Hughes Garvey, he was a United States Army Korean War Veteran.
Mr Garvey was a member of Hebron Lutheran Church and the Flying Cardinals Model Airplane Club.
He graduated from the University of Kentucky where he also did his post graduate studies.
His hobbies included woodworking and caning. He was an artist, crafter and musician, playing violins and dulcimers. He was also an amatuer astronomer.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Helen Rogers Garvey; son, Roger (Lecia) Garvey of Conroe, Texas; daughters, Bonnie (Jerry) Sarver of Columbus, Ohio, Arlene (Bob) Greenwood of Florence, and Valerie (Craig) Holocher of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Erin Greenwood, Lindsay Lamb, Tifini Sarver, Scott Scarver, Joshua Garvey, Miranda Hahs, Tom Willis, Charlie Willis, and Jesse Willis; and five great grandchildren.
Visitation is Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Hebron Lutheran Church. Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with a reception to follow in the church Fellowship Hall. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron, is serving the family.
