George Davison Sprague, 91, of Taylorsport, died Friday, March 19 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, Tallahassee, Florida. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Wanda Fisher Sprague.
Mr. Sprague was very proud of his service with the First Armored Division during World War II, and his participation in the North Africa Campaign and in the invasion of Anzio. At the conclusion of the war, George and Wanda married and opened Sprague's Grocery in Taylorsport, which they operated together for over 30 years.
He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Cincinnati, and attended Constance Church of the Brethren.
Other survivors include his son, Gary (Sheila) Sprague of Havana, Florida; granddaughter, Jennie (Trace) Barrow of Jacksonville, Florida; grandson, Geoff (Kasey) Sprague of Havana, Florida; great grandsons, Drew Barrow and Ben Barrow of Jacksonville; and great granddaughters, Adalynn Sprague and Mollie Sprague of Havana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter G. and Jeannie Brose Sprague.
