Eskel Clyde "Wes" Wesley, 62, of Independence, died Saturday, January 2 at Woodcrest Manor Nursing Home in Elsmere. He was a General Manager with Frate Trucking Company of Erlanger.
Mr. Wesley was a decorated United States Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He received three Purple Hearts during his service. The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the Armed Forces who are wounded by an instrument of war in the hands of the enemy and posthumously to the next of kin in the name of those who are killed in action or die of wounds received in action. It is specifically a combat decoration.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Kuntz Wesley; mother, Edith Randolph Wesley of Elmwood Place; sons, William A. Wesley of Florence and David E. Wesley of Cincinnati; step-son, Jeff McGill of St. Augustine, Florida; step-daughters, Diane Burk of Florence and Patty McGill of Independence; sister, Judy Wesley of Elmwood Place; nine grandchildren; niece, Sarah Riddle of Elmwood Place; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Wesley.
Memorials are suggested to Mr. Wesley's favorite charity, the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
