Ernie is survived by his life partner, soul mate, and best friend of 36 years, Kim Doss, their two dogs, Maybelle and Bailey, his brother, Odis (Rojene) Lainhart, Kim’s mom, Mary Lou Doss, Kim’s sister, Julie Carlton, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends from both families.

Ernie was known throughout the Tri-state for his guitar playing, earning him the nickname “Picks”. Ernie could play just about any instrument that had strings on it, but guitar was his favorite and it showed.

Ernie had such a big heart for animals. He was never without a dog and became the caretaker for stray cats that lived in his neighborhood, many of which became official family members.

Ernie had a strong Christian faith, and we know he had many waiting to greet him in Heaven.
