Donald Thomas

Lt. Col. Donald William Thomas (Army retired), 91, of Erlanger, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in Cincinnati. 

Lt. Col. Donald William Thomas was a Green Beret in the Army Special Forces. He was a proud graduate of the University of Kentucky and alum of Alpha Tau Omega. Along with his military service, Donald had a career as an accountant, was the owner of Alpine Imports in Elsmere, Kentucky, and was a tax preparer. 

He was a member of Erlanger Baptist Church, Erlanger, The British Car Club of Greater Cincinnati, an Airport Ambassador and was active in Friends of the Library. Donald was also an active community volunteer with numerous other charities. 

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Loraine Ernestine (Rush) Thomas; parents, William Kirby and Ruth Elizabeth (Setters) Thomas; brother, Robert Lee Thomas Sr.; and sister, Elizabeth Louise (Thomas) Hostein. 

Survivors include daughters, Rene Lynn (late Adam) McPhedran, and Denise Michelle Thomas; son, Steven Kirby (Amy) Thomas; and grandchildren, Lee William Thomas and Reagan Lynn Elizabeth McPhedran. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2024 at Erlanger Baptist Church with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. Monday, at the church. Burial will be private.
