Andrew John Burns, 86, of Florence, died Saturday, July 21, 2012 at his home. He was the retired Vice President of Carolina Casualty.
Born April 13, 1926 in Elbert, West Virginia to the late Andrew and Julia Sullivan Burns, he was a United States Air Force veteran, serving as a 2nd Lieutenant during World War II. Mr. Burns was a member of St. Paul Church, Florence and the American Legion.
Surviving is his wife, Rosemary Sironko Burns; son, Andy (Joni) Burns of Alexandria; daughters, Andrea (Larry) McMillen of Crestview Hills, Thelma (Joe) Prus of Loveland, Ohio, Julia (Joe) Hanley of Beverly Hills, California, Susan Burns of Union, Barbara Burns of Florence, and Rosemary (Brian) McKeown and Kathy (Matt) Kroell, both of Blue Ash, Ohio; sisters, Elizabeth (the late Dr. Lawrence) Jablonski and Julia (Albert) Allen, both of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Paul (Nisha) McMillen, Mara McMillen, Michael (Kim) Prus, Katy (Ashley) Tibbs, Natalie Hanley, Carrie Hanley, Marisa Hanley, Andrew (Kara) McKeown, Matthew McKeown, Nathan Kroell, Madeline Kroell, and Erin Kroell; great grandchildren, Emma Prus, Ryan Prus, Emeryn Tibbs, and Brady McKeown; and sisters-in-law, Nancy (Frank) Kulhavik and Kathleen Lloyd.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Burns; and brother, Thomas S. Burns.
Visitation is Wednesday, July 25, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at St. Paul Church, Florence. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:10 p.m. at the church. Reverend Jim Egbers to celebrate Mass. Entombment, with military honors, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Montgomery. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger, is serving the family.
